New York Style Bathroom

Let's start with the colors. There is no beige or brown, no tiles with decor on them. Go with decisive colors - the classic combination is white and black, but if you want, you can also add bottle green elements, cool marble tones, as well as silver or golden accents.

It's also worth to consider a bicolor floor - checkered with square or rectangular tiles is a great addition to this style. If your bathroom is not very big, paint the walls light colors, for example off-white, you can also add several mirrors which will optically enlarge the space, and add light.

If possible, think of two basins - that's a New York style bathroom telltale sign. If you cannot fit two sinks, choose one, definitely white, rectangular one, on a standing leg, not a hanging one. We do not recommend two faucet handles. That's not entirely the right geographical region. Moreover it is an archaic system, inconvenient, and it leads to increased water consumption. Instead look for a ball faucet with white or black porcelain handle.

Shower cabins with silver frames and handles are the most popular, and they will fit this style. However for better effect we suggest a shower cabin with black framing. It draws attention, and brings order to the space.

If possible, go with the walk-in cabin. This is a comfortable solution, and it sets the tone for the entire bathroom. Unfortunately it requires that the floor is at a certain angle so that the water doesn't spill across the floor.

In the cabin there is no place for colorful sponges or cute shower gel bottles. Plan a niche in the wall, where all cosmetics and accessories can be stored out of plain sight.

New York Style doesn't mean you cannot have any ornaments. You just need to select what you want to emphasize. If you have a large mirror over the basin in a decorative frame then ornamental sconce will not fit. Too much decor may be overwhelming, especially in smaller spaces. Choose with care. It is better to draw focus to one feature.

It is also worth to consider a poster or a print which will suit the interior. You do not have to choose the New York panorama or the famous photo of workers on top of the Empire State Building. Go with something less obvious, like a retro ad for some cosmetics, a geometrical figure or a styled picture of the subway.

A typical element of American bathroom is a mirror cabinet. However if you already have a mirror chosen over the basin, you can also hang a glass cabinet on the wall opposite the mirror. A popular Instagram trend these days is arranging cosmetics by color, and this is where such a "shelfie" can be safely emphasized.
